Located at 944 W. Jericho Turnpike, Cafe Havana has a menu inspired by authentic Puerto Rican, and Spanish flavors.
“With the palm trees surrounding you and the wide variety of food to choose from, you will feel like you have been transported to a tropical island…Once you get transported to the Caribbean you will never want to leave,” reads the restaurant’s website.
Cafe Havana’s menu consists of bold flavors and dishes straight from the Caribbean. Appetizers include fish tacos, crab cakes, baked clams and calamari, to name a few.
From there, you’ll find specialty crafted sandwiches, soups, salads and classic entrees. From heartier dishes like braised pork shank and arroz con pollo to savory seafood delights such as halibut, paella and lobster, everything on the menu is made with authentic Caribbean flavors in mind.
This is true even when it comes to side orders, which include sweet or fried plantains and yuca frita, a type of extra crispy fried potato.
For those with a sweet tooth, don’t end your meal without experiencing one of the cafe’s many traditional desserts. Options include tres leches cake, flan, fruit sorbet, coconut custard pie, guava cheesecake, dulce de leche cheesecake and homemade lava cake.
Cafe Havana’s tropical atmosphere and cuisine has earned the establishment a four-star rating on Yelp.
“My family and I visited Cafe Havana during restaurant week and thoroughly enjoyed everything on the menu. We started with the yummy baked empanadas appetizers in chicken and beef followed by the stuffed sweet plantains.
"I had the classic Cuban ropa viejà that was served with rice, beans and sweet plantains. Every bite was savory and delicious, followed by their infamous sangria…my meal was everything and then some!” wrote R.A. in a June 26 review.
Cafe Havana is open for brunch and dinner six days a week. For more information, visit the website.
